Securely & easily access data in Synapse by linking your Synapse account to Pluto
Overview
Synapse is a large ecosystem for responsible data sharing, innovative data reuse, and collaboration. There is a vast amount of data available in Synapse that is publicly available for research purposes, and Synapse also has robust governance controls ensuring that certain controlled-access data can only be shared with researchers who have successfully applied for access.
If you have an account in Synapse, you can link that account in Pluto in order to:
- Search Synapse data directly in Pluto
- Import publicly available data sets into Pluto for analysis
- Import controlled-access data that you've been granted access to in Synapse
Overall, the Pluto - Synapse integration enables more streamlined access to large data sets, while maintaining full compliance to rigorous data access controls.
Linking your Synapse account in Pluto
First, go the Account settings page in Pluto using the menu in the top right corner of the app. If your organization has the Synapse integration enabled, you can navigate to the Linked accounts tab to see the Synapse linking option.
Click the button to Link Synapse account and you'll be directed to a Synapse login page, where you should input the credentials you use to log into Synapse.
