What is paired-end sequencing?

Technique used to increase the sequence coverage by sequencing a fragment from both ends.

Adapters are primed on the opposite end of the insert, which allows sequencing from both ends. This allows for twice the amount of reads in the same amount of time, which leads to a higher mapping accuracy (click here for more information).
