Store internal knowledge about key biomarkers in Pluto, where it can be seamlessly overlaid on experimental data
Many companies manage lists of biomarkers (genes, proteins, etc) in unwieldily spreadsheets, generic wikis, and home-grown solutions in order to compile research on them, leave comments, and track their status e.g. biological importance to the company.
However, a critical missing component in those solutions is the ability to overlap the internal knowledge contained in your biomarker lists with your actual experimental data. For example, you might want to highlight a particular list of biomarkers on a volcano plot. This requires a lot of manual effort to manage the list itself and then have your bioinformaticist incorporate those biomarkers into their custom scripts.
With biomarker list management, all of that can take place in Pluto. To see it in action, review either the gif, or step-by-step guide outlined below:
Creating biomarker lists in Pluto (step by step)
- On the left side navigation bar, click the data management icon, and then click "Biomarkers"
- From the Biomarker management page, click "+ Biomarker list"
- Enter you desired puts from the "Create biomarker list" module
- Click into the list you just created, where you can either upload a CSV, or, click "+Biomarker"
- From there, you can enter addition inputs from the "Create biomarker module"
- After clicking "save", you'll be taken to the list view you just created, where you can add additional biomarkers, and add comments and notes to individual biomarkers.
You'll be able to reference and link to your biomarker and target lists throughout the app, e.g. in assay data, differential gene results, and other plots and tables:
