What is Trim Galore?

Adapter and quality trimming.

When read length is longer than the DNA insert size, it can continue sequencing past the insert and into the sequencing adapter. To prevent these bases from being recorded, adapter trimming is used to cut off the extra bases from the sequence. Quality trimming trims low quality reads at both ends until the sequence left is a high enough quality.
